Room guide
Dining room lighting
Zone the space — table/meals, sideboard/storage, indirect mood, circulation — then pick fittings and a Kelvin/CRI combo that flatters faces and food.
Goals by zone
- Table: flattering light, minimal shadow on faces — pendant sized to table width.
- Sideboard: accent and easy search — strip or spots with CRI ≥ 90.
- Mood: indirect, warmer in the evening, dimmable.
- Circulation: even floor light to avoid dark corners.
Frequent mistakes
- Single central pendant only — shadows on faces, table under-lit.
- Too cool (>4000 K) — food and skin look dull.
- Low CRI — meat and vegetables look grey.
Often 2700–3000 K dimmed after dinner. French detail: salle à manger. Merchant pendants: Luminaire.fr.
